When the YOLO (You Only Live Once) Lancaster Wellness PACT launched on October 31, 2014, it already had the support of one of the largest restaurant chains in the world. SUBWAY partnered with the City of Lancaster and Antelope Valley Partners for Health (AVPH) to support the Wellness PACT because it promotes health consciousness, it betters the community, and it benefits its franchises.
The year-long YOLO Wellness PACT partners with local businesses, such as SUBWAY franchises, to offer healthy choices and ultimately cultivate healthy lifestyles throughout the community. According to Paul Chopra of NPC Investments, the firm which owns the eleven participating Subway franchises, there are three key advantages behind the decision for Subway to join the Wellness PACT and become a community partner for YOLO.
“It goes hand-in-hand with our brand’s health conscious ideals. Subway already provides a number of healthy options, and it is great that now customers have even more incentive to take advantage of these healthy options, as well as the many other healthy options offered throughout the community.”
“It keeps tax dollars local by incentivizing the community to exercise their healthy choices locally. If local businesses throughout Lancaster participate in this Wellness PACT, not only will it be easier for residents to cultivate healthy lifestyles, but it will incentivize them to spend their dollars here in Lancaster.”
“It is nice to see that the City and AVPH are so involved in bettering Lancaster,” concluded Chopra. “It is rewarding to be a part of such a health conscious, caring community.”
Every organization in the community is capable of becoming a provider of healthy choices, and their participation in YOLO will not only improve the community -- it will benefit their business. Those organizations which are unsure of how they can help are encouraged to contact AVPH at (661) 942-4719. AVPH staff will work to find ways in which the business can become involved.
